Full Description

{1} Identified by South Northamptonshire Council as being a building of historic and/or architectural significance.

{2} The whole complex is dated 1866 over the main door to the north. This part of the building was refurbished in the 1990s.

Part of a complex building. Of Oolitic limestone under a decoratively tiled roof. The window dressings are of mixed stone, the lower cill, as the wall, the other parts of ironstone. All the windows appear to be of simialr 19th century date. There are two chimney stacks, one on the eastern gable wall and one in line with the straight joint. The entrance opnes in front of this stack.

In the roofspace is one anomaly; just below the roofline a pair of timbers, tenoned and pegged, appear. They have no obvious purpose and are apparently clean timber of contemporary quality with the roof. The angles at the roofline indicate differing pitches on the north and south faces.

The liklihood of an earlier date for the central part of the 19th century manor building lies in the visible disruption to the stonework on the south front.
