Full Description

{1} List A: Extensive Areas of Field Systems.
Extensive area of furlongs with headlands and joints, and meadow, attractively located in rolling countryside. Several fields of shrunken vill earthworks are extant. There are monastic records but poor later records. The main interest is the visual effect even where slightly ploughed. Enclosed c.1610. 150ha.

{3} Two fields on the east of the area of ridge and furrow have been ploughed out.

{6} Three field parcels under arable cultivation since at least 2010.

{7} Within T10 were also two medieval furrows aligned north-west to south-east. The furrows were c.10.5m apart and had a U-shaped profile. They had a gravelly fill and one contained a sherd of post-medieval pottery.
T11 conatined a single medieval furrow located at the west end of the trench. It was aligned north-east to south-west and had a shallow U-shaped profile. There were no finds present.
A medieval furrow lay towards the north end of T14, aligned east to west.
Post medieval remains comprising furrows of ridge and furrow cultivation were present at the sites of Turbines 5,6 and 7, which confirmed the findings of the geophysical survey.
