Full Description

{1} The mid-C13th remains were overlain by a compacted sandy clay layer with mortar, charcoal, coarse angular grit and pebbles, and which may have been a later yard surface.
A stone-lined drain cut this layer. It was 0.4m wide x minimum of 4.7m long. It was constructed of shaped limestone blocks, lined with vertically pitched blocks, with some surviving capping stones. Pottery from the top of the drain included iron-glazed earthenware and Englilsh stoneware dating to the C17th.
