Description
{1} The watching brief monitored groundworks for a concrete raft designed to enable preservation in situ for known Roman remains beneath the new building. Three trenches are shown on Fig.2. In the main portion of the site, formerly occupied by the garden of 147 Watling Street, no archaeological remains were observed during the preparation of the concrete raft and footings as they remaind buried below the level of intervention, which cut only the post medieval garden soils.
