Full Description

{1} The remains of a wall surviving up to 0.3m high were visible in the west-facing section of Trench 2. The dry stone construction comprised roughly tooled limestone blocks and flat limestone pieces. The wall was aligned roughly north-east to south-west and extended less than 0.5m into the trench. Though stratigraphically late in date it does not appear to coincide with any of the structures shown on OS maps and its form and function therefore remain unclear.
Beneath the wall was evidence of relict ridge and furrow, and a small assemblage of abraded C13th pottery is likely to represent part of a manuring scatter.
