Full Description

{1} The southern end of Trench 7 contained a wide ditch aligned north-west to south-east, which was not fully exposed in plan. It was at least 1.2m wide x 0.7m deep. Its compact fill contained large sherds of early to middle Iron Age pottery. This was truncated by a re-cut of the ditch which was up to 1.55m wide x 0.48m deep with an irregular stepped side. Both fills were cut by a modern field drain.
The ditch revealed at the southern end of Trench 7 appeared to continue south-eastwards into Trench 8, but was unexcavated.
