Full Description

{1} Possible pit alignment observed for c65m identified during geophysical survey.

{2} At least four discrete positive anomalies probably representing pits are visible at the northern end of Area D. These are in a linear alignment from north-west to south-east and are part of a pit alignment which could be Iron Age in date. This pit alignment was also visible in the results of the previous survey.

{3} Geophysical survey identified a further section of the pit alignment to the east. The pit alignment contains a minimum of 50 pits, many of which have a sub-rectangular shape. It runs eastwards from the reservoir for 250m before coming to a seemingly abrupt stop. However, there is a short run of four pit-like anomalies on a similar orientation in the field to the east and these may comprise a detached part of the same alignment.

{4} Three trial trenches located over the projected route of the pit alignment identified two undated pits in one of the trenches and an undated ditch in one other. Nothing was identified in the third trench.
