Building record 485/0/10 - Former Sun Inn

Now converted to residential use. Building recording survey was undertaken in 2014 prior to conversion and partial demolition. The earliest phase appears to have dated to c1700, with significant alterations in the early 19th century. In 1849 it was known as The Swan, but as The Sun Inn by 1861. Significant internal alterations were undertaken toward the end of the 20th century.

{1} A level 2 building recording survey was undertaken in 2014 prior to conversion of the former pub to residential use. The western end of the building [now demolished] dates to c1700 and was part of a longer building, the eastern part of which was demolished in the early 19th century and replaced with a larger structure which extended back to form an L-shaped building. This arrangment is first recorded on the Enclosure Map of 1815. The pub was known as The Swan in 1849 and as The Sun Inn by 1861. From 1849-1861, the victualler is listed as Martha Harrald and in 1874, the victualler was Xenophon Harrald. Towards the end of the 20th century, there were significant internal alterations and very few early fixtures or fittings survive.
