Full Description
{2} Marston Trussell remains, SP 691855, associated mainly with C19th alterations. Medieval village probably lay along the main E-W road with a back lane (now a disused hollow-way) to the N and a road running S opposite Marston Trussell Hall. The main road was blocked by the construction of a manor (date unknown) and the back lane became the through road. This layout shown on 1815 map and 1834 OS. About 1874 manor demolished and E-W road restablished (back lane abandoned). Marston Trussell Hall built. Old road to the S abandoned and the lake created. Remains indicate the site of the former S road including much Post Medieval pottery. NW of the church finds of medieval pottery (SP 68 NE 14) suggest further areas of settlement.
