Full Description

{1} An archaeological watching brief was carried out during ground reductions for new dwellings and the foundation trench of a new boundary wall at The Elms. A ditch aligned NE-SW and containing several sherds of pottery dating between the 10th and 14th centuries was found. The significant depths of plough soil within the site suggest it was part of of the open field system in the medieval period and the boundary marked the edge of a domestic property to the south. The work also revealed several post-medieval features associatd with the former garden and orchard at The Elms.
