Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation undertaken in 2021 found evidence of ridge and furrow, implying that the site was within the open fields from the medieval or later periods. A possible boundary ditch was observed and may align with the eastern boundary of the properties visible on the 1900 Ordnance Survey map. A brick pathway partially survived and dates to the 19th century. The brick pathway corresponds with the northern edge of the buildings visible on the Ordnance Survey map of 1900. Other finds were present around the pathway including a high quantity of brick rubble mixed in with the topsoil, 19th century ‘Rosemary’ roof tiles and a possible window latch presumably from the demolition of the 19th century buildings which were previously on the site. There was also a undated ditch that predates the brick pathway and a undated gully that was on the same alignment of the furrows.
