Full Description

{1} Two stable yards of mid 19th century date lay on the northern side of the Delapre abbey. The buildings are built of handmade brick, set in English Bond and are structurally dated to 1850s or 1860s. A 19th century brick stable yard surface was revealed in the 2021 evaluation. There is a similarity between the bricks of the yard surface and the surrounding buildings which suggests contemporaneity. At some point, probably during the 20th century, part of the stable yard surface was covered in concrete slabs. Evidence from the evaluation shows that the yard surface was well constructed.
