Abstract/Summary
MOLA Northampton was commissioned by the Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust to undertake a programme of Archaeological Trial Trench Evaluation within the 19th century Stable Yard of Delapré Abbey, Northampton. The work was undertaken to help inform future strategies of repair and renovation. A single trench was excavated, and the original 19th century brick stable yard surface was identified. Beneath this were deposits which pre-dated the stable yard. It is possible that they were either made ground deposits formed during earlier landscaping, or as they comprised wet and organic material, they may have perhaps formed the infill of an earlier pond.
