Full Description

{1} Cropmarks of rectilinear enclosures are visible on an aerial photograph of 2018. A square enclosure with no apparent entrance is visible in the south-western part of the field. A possible boundary ditch aligned north-west to south-east crosses its south-western corner but there are no obvious internal features. To the north-east is part of another enclosure, comprising the eastern and southern arms. There appears to be an entrance in the eastern arm. There may be a large pit adjacent to the entrance.

{2, 3} The fragmented cropmark remains of two possible later prehistoric or Roman ditch-defined rectilinear enclosures and a single pit which have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa project. They are located at SK 9934 0206 and SK 9946 0210. The western enclosure is defined by two parallel ditchs set 47m apart with a suggestion of a corner at the southern end of the eastern ditch which measures 75m. The eastern site is an L shaped ditched feature with a single slightly curved corner. The remains of the southern side measures 30m and the eastern side 39m.
