Summary

Probably originating in the 18th century. Demolished ahead of construction of the Moat House Hotel in 1971. The tiled cellars were reportedly identified during construction of the hotel's access road.

Full Description

{1} In machine excavation for the provision of the new hotel access off King Street, to the east of the new swimming pool, the contractors reported encountering a backfilled cellar with tiled walls. This would be the cellar of the former Mitre Inn.
