Full Description
{1} Documentary reference to Searchlight battery. Appendix of War Diary details location of every S/L in their area (N of Grantham to E coast) due to a change in the system of numbering in 1942. Prefixes of old numbers make it possible to cross ref them to location statements. Weekley old number WT.095, proposed H.Q. (ie 362 Bty, 41 S/L Regt.); new number 267.
{2} Site of anti-aircraft battery and two adjoining searchlights identified on the basis of their form from aerial photographs by P Markham (1997). Other cropmarks which may represent associated activity are also present. The site was first identified as earthworks and then as cropmarks. These clearly show two hexagonal features interpreted as searchlight sites close by a penannular ditched feature interpreted as the AA gun site.
