Full Description

{2} The village consists of two conjoined loops from which radiate several roads or tracks, some now abandoned. One track runs north down the valley side from the north-west corner of the north loop. The southern part of it is still a street, Silver Street North, with houses on its eastern side. A hollow way 15m across and up to 1.5m deep continues its line for some 100m into the valley bottom.

{4} A detailed magnetometer survey was carried out. The survey area contained earthworks relating to a manor house and other medieval settlement. The geophysical results correlated broadly with the layout of the earthworks but revealed much additional archaeological detail. Some areas of modern disturbance were also detected. A

{5} Evaluation and excavation for a graveyard extension recorded no archaeological activity.
