Full Description
{1} The churchyard was planned at 1:200 scale with the position of the church and in situ memorials marked. An inventory of gravestones was made, excluding the post-1900 memorials on the north side of the path.
It became apparent that the churchyard had already been partially cleared. From old photographs it seems that the C17th headstones "….these perhaps the most interesting & worthwhile stones to record have have now totally disappeared….". All the early stones still in situ were found round the edges of the cleared area or had been displaced. The total number of stones recorded was 161; 130 were pre 1900 and number of people identified as having been commemorated between 1745-1900 was 214.
