{1}Small portion of wall of St James' Abbey still visible in 1906 on Weedon Road near spot where Duston & Upton roads divide;
{10}Report on archaeologists ramble at Upton & Duston; "....leaving St James' district they first went to look at remaining wall of St James' Abbey on Weedon Road....";
{3}Section of abbey wall on Weedon Road survived until 1927;
{2}Fragment of abbey wall on Weedon Road was entirely demolished in 1927;
{6}Abbey demesnes lay on both sides of road to Banbury; leading down to abbey is causeway called Cut-throat Lane with old wall on left side; westwards is wall of ashlar stone;
{7}Surviving fragment of wall visited circa 1904; return journey made along Weedon Road; some looked at old wall that had formed part of original building of St James' Abbey;
{9}Map showing proposed diversion relating to Cut Throat Lane adjacent to Weedon Road; abbey walls are shown;
{12}"Abbey Land" presumably marks extent of abbey precinct;
{11}Very small portions of St James' Abbey walls are still to be seen west of hamlet of St James's End near road leading from west bridge to Upton & Harlestone turnpike gates;
{8}Causeway under old wall to left called Cut-throat Lane; wall continues for whole length of north side of enclosure; until recent raising of turnpike road considerable portions of masonry could be seen; ascending hill base or plinth of wall exists of similar character to exterior castle wall;
{13} Mapped extent of precinct; "S. James standeth a little distant from the extreme part of the west suburbe. The waulle that cumpasith the hole site of the house is highe, faire, and large, ex lapido quadrato (ashlar)"
