Monument record 1347/0/49 - Medieval/post-medieval extractive pits

Undated sand and gravel pits, probably medieval/post-medieval in date

{1} Earthworks along the line of Cotton Lane comprising a series of irregular depressions which may denote the location of undated gravel pits;

{3} Trial trench evaluation on land at West End indicated that the southern half of the site was significantly disturbed by extensive and deep quarrying, probably for sands and gravels. It is likely that this was later medieval or post-medieval in date but did not appear on any of the available historic maps.
