Full Description
{1} Earthwork of possible Bronze Age barrow, 30m in diameter and 0.5m high. Traces of a ditch. Situated at SP958712.
{2} David Hall reports a low circular mound.
{3} Soilmark, a mound of pink gravel is surrounded by a dark annular soil mark. Possibly a ploughed out barrow. Contour plan.
{4} Site visit 23/6/94 confirmed that the round mound has now been destroyed.
{5}{7} A roughly circular anomaly of about 12m diameter could denote the ring ditch of a former barrow.
{6} Desk-top assessment, fieldwalking, magnetometer survey and test-pit excavation were carried out between September-October 1994 either side of Marsh Lane. A ring ditch may mark the site of a mound which was recorded as a barrow in 1972. A few shallow undated features were found close by.
