Full Description

{1} About 250m north of SN:726/0/12;

{2}Iron Age settlement (SP 689481) lay close to the Silverstone Brook and little to the west of the main Roman extra-mural settlement alongside the Alchester road, on Upper Lias Clay at 90m above OD. Observations during building development in the area in 1977 led to the discovery of ditches and gullies of a 3rd century BC farmstead. [The grid reference is 100m to the south in source {3}]

{3} In the surrounding areas evidence for prehistoric activity is very sparse, consisting of a C3rd BC farmstead c.650m to the south-east of the development site.

{4} The earliest evidence of occupation comes from an Iron Age farmstead south [?north] of the Silverstone Brook.
