Monument record 1592 - C20th Landscape Parkland For Wood Burcote Court

The parkland was laid out for Herbert Jackson-Stops in the early 20th century. Monuments bought from a sale at Stowe were brought to the park in 1921. Most of it has been developed for residential housing.

{1} Parkland planting suggested on OS maps of various dates.

{2} The modern parkland associated with Wood Burcote Court comprises tree-lined avenues and other landscape features designed to maximise the vistas from Wood Burcote Court. The planting appears to have been associated with series of earthworks designed to maximise the visual impact.

{3} Both the house and the wooded garden were designed and laid out for Herbert Jackson-Stops around the end of the First World War.

{4} Monuments from Stowe House were sold at auction in 1921 and were erected at Wood Burcote Court. The park was at this time owned by Herbert Jackson-Stops, who was also the auctioner for the Stowe sale.
