Full Description

{1} The lake is absent from Bryant's mapping of 1827, but is shown clearly on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 6 Inch map of the 1880s.

{2} The lake is not an 18th century garden feature but probably a medieval creation constructed to serve a mill. It is clearly visible on the map of 1588, together with an adjacent field known as 'mill home'.
