Full Description

{1} To west of round tower is a postern gate which formerly had low elliptical arch of plain Norman mouldings; in front of the gate is a terrace sited between wall and ditch which runs round outside of castle.

{2} Thomas Irvine records portion of postern in south wall of inner bailey.
