Full Description

{1}The remains of the rampart appears to survive as a low bank, up to 0.45m high and some 19m broad. The inner or eastern side is defined by a well marked scarp at the South but lower and less sharply defined tothe north. To the east the ground level slopes more gently for a further 5-6m. In contrast, the outer slope of the bank is rounded and its edges are more difficult to define. To the north, the bank appears to meet the steeper slope of the inner edge of the ditch but there is the suggestion of a berm, perhaps c.3m wide further to the south. The ditch is 0.65m-0.75m deep with a broad flat bottom c.8-9m wide. The outer slope to the west continues to rise to the boundary of the plot. The ground dips to the North, and the ditch falls by 0.5m within an overall length of 22m.
