Full Description

{1} Trial evaluation at Nelson's Yard assertained the build up of modern soil deposits. Found was that depth was up to a metre in the east to gradually decreasing amounts to the west where it was 0.3m thick at the highest point of the earthwork bank.

{2} Trial excavation indicated the site had been built up to the East, where modern soil deposits covered any ancient remains to a depth of up to 1m. The depth of overburden lessened gradually westward to 0.3m at the highest point of the earthwork bank.
