Full Description

{1}A number of the linear anomalies may have archaeological interest. In particular three magnetic responses are of a magnitude that is often associated with burnt structures. Roman iron smelting is known to have been carried out in the vicinity maybe making these anomalies significant.,

{2}The silty clay deposit contained sherds of iron age pottery, animal bone, three possible flint flakes and a fragment of daub. It was above a layer of limestones in a silty clay matrix. The stone layer was 9.5m in width and the central part had been burnt (hearth?). It is believed that the stones represent an IA surface. These stones were above another silty clay layer which contained a frag of a possible flintcore and pieces of boxstone (iron ore).
