Full Description
{1} Crop marks of a rectilinear enclosure with rounded corners and two slightly convex sides. The enclosure measures 45 x 52 metres. The southern ditch appears to continue westwards beyond the SW corner of the enclosure, and there are traces of a second parallel ditch to the western side. The north side of the enclosure forms part of a double ditched trackway running East-West. The remains of the eastern half of the trackway cut through the northern half of a Neolithic causwayed enclosure (TL09SW35) which lies immediately to the east of the rectilinear enclosure at FCE TL04102926.
The enclosure, ditches and trackway were recorded and mapped as part of the 1:2500 level 3 photogrammetric survey of the Causewayed enclosure, carried out for the Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic Project. This was set up by the Cambridge Field Office of the RCHME. The survey was undertaken by the Air Photography Unit of the RCHME between the 8th and 9th August, and copies of the plan, digital files and report are held by the RCHME.
{3} Stone Pit Lodge Complex consists of a large area of crop and soil-marks as well as archaeological material, lying in the north-east corner of the parish and extending into Fotheringhay and Woodnewon parishes.
