Monument record 2800 - Southwick Hall Park

{1} Owner is Rev M. Broade. (Only the house and the lake are shown.)

{2} George Lynn Esq held 500 acres in south as part of William Kirkham's estate, but this was alleged to be parcel assarted of the King's inheritance in Rockingham Forest. In 1611 a subpoena was demanded to restore the Crown's title. Lynn demurred that the lands at Southwick were specifically excluded from Rockingham Forest by a perambulation of Edward I.

{3} The park is shaded as such, but no detail is shown; the presence of the lake by this time is ambiguous.

{4} Little parkland detail is shown on the map.

{6} George Lynn, Esq Lord of Manor hath an old mansion house on which are the dates 1571 and 1580. First mention in 3rd year of reign of Henry 8th (1512). William Lynn died possessed of manor.
