Full Description

{1} (SP828584) AP taken by R Hollowell in 1969 shows marks of ditched enclosures. (Nothing visible on available APs OS 1965). Early IA sites at SP828582 and 828584.

{2} 3 ditches, sherds and ? bone needle.

{3] Mr Hollowell confirmed the sitings and said the sherds were lost but the bone implement is now in Northampton Museum.

{4} Iron Age settlement (SP 828584) on both sides of the main A 428 road, SE of the village, on Boulder Clay at 99 m. above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show a large rectangular enclosure with a group of irregular ditches and enclosures attached to it on the NW. Pits and ditches containing Iron Age pottery have been noted on the ground around and to the S of these cropmarks.
