Monument record 3614 - Undated cropmarks, south of Hill Top Road
Please read our guidance about the use of Northamptonshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Cropmarks of possible boundary ditches and an enclosure identified on aerial photographs. Small amounts of worked flint and Roman pottery have been found during fieldwalking survey and geophysical survey identified possible pits and ditches. However, trial trench excavation over the eastern part of the complex did not identify any features.

Full Description
{1} Road corridor in Field B yielded 30 flints. A large cylindrical blade core could be late Mesolithic or early Neolithic. The flint evidence provides no indication of specific early sites within the study area. Six sherds of Romano-British pottery and a fragment of tile also from Field B, may be associated with the nearby cropmarks. SP 8803 7191.
Several small pit-sized and short linear anomalies were detected, as well as a curvilinear ditch.
{3} Several small pit-sized and short linear anomalies were detected, as well as a curvilinear ditch.
{4} Three trial trenches were excavated in the area of the cropmarks but no archaeological features were identified.
