Abstract/Summary

Evaluation of a plot on the northern side of Weldon, within the historic settlement core of Little Weldon. Seven trenches, totalling 180 square metres were investigated. No evidence for quarrying, iron-working, or medieval or earlier habitation was recovered. Several sections of medieval property boundary ditches were discovered. Evidence was also revealed suggesting that the east-west boundary across the site (indicated on the 1580s mapping) was no more than a fossilised headland. A small number of medieval pottery sherds and one piece of Roman flue tile were recovered, together with a small amount of animal bone
