Abstract/Summary

Hand-excavation, by the building contractors, of three soakaways and associated drain trenches was monitored. No in situ (pre-modern) archaeological remains were observed, and most of the excavation areas had been disturbed by grave-digging, and in one instance by previous drainage works. Several sherds of medieval pottery were recovered. Human bone fragments were recovered throughout the excavated deposits and these were all reburied with the graveyard. Photographic evidence confirming the former presence of a chimney stack is recorded.
