Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out an archaeological watching brief during the excavation of a trench for a new gas pipeline along the Towcester Watling Street (A5) from 58 Watling Street in the south to Northampton Road in the north. Redeposited levelling layers and a concrete road surface were visible in the open trench. The trench was truncated by a multitude of modern service pipes along its length. A possible brick drain was noted. No medieval or earlier features were encountered.
