Abstract/Summary

Archaeological observation and recording was carried out during the preparation of foundations for a new house at Stoke Park, Stoke Bruerne. As the new structure was to be built in an area of potential archaeological sensitivity, the purpose of the exercise was to ensure that the archaeological interest of the site was safeguarded. The investigation revealed evidence for land-use and occupation at, or in proximity to the site during the 13th/14th century, providing corroborative evidence for the suspected deserted medieval village site of Shaw.
