Abstract/Summary
This report has assessed the designated built heritage assets in the vicinity of the site of Northampton SUE. Specifically, it has assessed the Collingtree Village Conservation Area and the setting of two Grade II* Listed buildings, St Columba Church, Collingtree and Church of the Holy Cross, Milton Malsor. There are no designated heritage assets on the site. There are 15 Listed Buildings within the wider study area, ten of which are located within the Collingtree Village Conservation Area, the western edge of which lies immediately adjacent to the eastern boundary of the site. The Milton Malsor Conservation Area lies immediately to the south-west of the wider study area. This assessment has established that there will be a minor impact upon the setting of the Collingtree Village Conservation Area, through introduction of modern development to the immediate north and west of the Barn Close extension of the Conservation Area and a consequent marginal alteration to the existing townscape extent. However, it is considered that the wider landscape setting does not make a significant contribution to the distinct character, or heritage significance of the Conservation Area, which will remain intact. The setting of the Grade II* Listed St Columba Church is restricted to its surrounding churchyard, the Rectory and the Victorian School building, located within the historic core of the village and does not fall within the study site. No impacts on the setting or significance of the Church are anticipated. The setting of the Grade II* Listed Church of the Holy Cross at Milton Malsor is that of its immediate surroundings of the Churchyard and open space to its west. Located some 600m to the south-west of the study site, the setting does not fall within the study site and no impacts on the setting or significance of the asset are anticipated. It is therefore considered that there will not be substantial harm to, or loss of significance of any of the heritage assets identified, which is in accordance with paragraphs 133-135 of the NPPF, and with local and regional planning policy.
