ENN107131 - Northampton South SUE, 2013 (DBA)

{1} Assessment of designated built heritage assets in the vicinity of the site of Northampton SUE. Specifically, it has assessed the Collingtree Village Conservation Area and the setting of two Grade II* Listed buildings, St Columba Church, Collingtree and Church of the Holy Cross, Milton Malsor. There are no designated heritage assets on the site. There are 15 Listed Buildings within the wider study area, ten of which are located within the Collingtree Village Conservation Area, the western edge of which lies immediately adjacent to the eastern boundary of the site. The Milton Malsor Conservation Area lies immediately to the south-west of the wider study area. {2} Available archaeological, historic, and topographic information indicates that the site contains no designated heritage assets. A programme of archaeological fieldwork comprising geophysical survey and archaeological evaluation has been undertaken on the site. Geophysical survey recorded three small late prehistoric/early Roman enclosed settlement sites, and the subsequent archaeological evaluation indicated that the largest enclosed settlement was late Iron Age and early Roman in date. The geophysical survey also recorded medieval ridge and furrow across the arable parts of the site.
