Abstract/Summary

Geophysical survey was in broad agreement with the cropmark evidence, demonstrating the presence of a large sub-square ditched enclosure in the northern half of the eastern field and a number of ditches and trackways lying to the south. Thirteen trenches were excavated. A series of ditches, identified in the geophysical survey as being part of several enclosures, have been dated to the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. An undated trackway was aligned north-east to south-west across the middle of the site. Undated quarrying was recorded at the eastern edge of the development area and evidence of ridge and furrow cultivation was evident across the site.
