Abstract/Summary

Archaeological field evaluation carried out at the former RAF airfield at Desborough on behalf of Northfield UK Solar Ltd. A number of features of archaeological potential had been identified during an earlier geophysical survey. A total of 208 trenches were excavated totalling 8025 linear metres. Two main areas of archaeological significance were identified during the evaluation; the south of field 4 and the middle of field 4. it is possible these two areas are related. The soutn of field 4 contains a possible prehistoric enclosure or barrow and an associated ditch. The middle of the field contained two intersecting ditches containing prehistoric pottery. Further undated linear features were identified in Field 1.
