Abstract/Summary

MOLA was commissioned by CgMs Heritage, part of the RPS group, on behalf of Bovis Homes to undertake archaeological trial trenching on parcels of land within the Stanton Cross development area. The parcels of land were at the northern most section of the stanton Cross development and encompass Area 3 with a small portion of Areas 4 and 5. the works follow a geophysical survey of the whole Stanton Cross site. The trecnhing recorded a possible Roman road, ditches, a pit and hedgerows, all overlain by medieval ridge and furrow. A tramline was also identified associated with local ironstone extraction industry.
