Abstract/Summary

A programme of Archaeological Observation, Investigation, Recording, Analysis and Publication of Works was carried out by Pre-Develop Archaeology between 9th and 26th June 2014 prior to the application for the construction of an Anaerobic digester at Home Farm, Cranford, Northamptonshire. The works identified and just caught the edge of an old track post-medieval track just to the northwest of the area running from the southwest to the northeast; just clipping the northwest corner of the observation area. Five medieval cultivation furrows running roughly northeast-southwest across the area were also encountered which corresponded directly with the findings of the Northamptonshire Archaeological Unit in 2013. At the extreme northwest end of the area a single iron age ditch was seen to run roughly east-west through the area. Iron Age pottery and a fragment of a possible iron knife blade were associated with this feature and a general spread of medieval pottery was recovered from the site in general. No other Archaeological finds or features were encountered.
