Abstract/Summary

Letter regarding the discovery of a 'mass of Roman pottery' by metal detectorists on a development site. Analysis of the finds indicated the presence of a kiln nearby since there were about a dozen kiln plate pieces and a stacking ring. A site visit did not identify any features as the area had already been tarmaced, but the description of the features by the detectorists suggests the possible presence of a ditch and possible 'settling tank'?
