Abstract/Summary

Between September and October 2018, KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook a programme of Strip, Map and Sample excavation of the Land Adjacent to Peppercorns, Church Lane, Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire as a condition of planning permission for the construction of a single dwelling on the site. A number of features were exposed, including boundary ditches, pits and postholes. In addition to features, two fragments of Anglo-Saxon antler comb and several iron artefacts were recovered from the fills of the ditches. It is likely that this site was within, or just outside, an Iron Age settlement which was abandoned, or at least not exploited, during the Roman period. The site was once more utilized during the Anglo-Saxon period.
