SNN112046 - Report on a Programme of Archaeological Observation, Investigation, Recording, Analysis and Publication on land between 53 and 59 Church Street, Warmington

An archaeological observation and recording exercise was carried out by Groundworks Archaeology between the 20th and 27th March 2020 on land at 53-59 Church Street, Warmington. The archaeological observation and recording exercise revealed a simple stratigraphy of topsoil overlying subsoil which in turn sealed the natural. There was no evidence of structures or occupation within the monitored area with only a single shallow pit of 14th-century origin. The lack of occupation evidence may suggest that the site was of an agricultural nature throughout the medieval period.
