Abstract/Summary

A detailed magnetic gradiometer survey was undertaken for Witham Archaeology, in connection with a proposed development on Land off Bedford Road, Little Houghton, Northamptonshire. The western side of the 2.1 hectare area to be surveyed was subdivided by fences to create enclosures for horses grazing the site. Due to interference caused by metal in the fencing, the survey was limited to the eastern part of the site, an area of 1.25 hectares. The survey recorded twelve possible linear features, which could form evidence of a enclosure, a trackway and field boundary’s. Other features represent modern backfilled field boundaries, ridge and furrow cultivation, possible pits and a gas pipeline.
