Abstract/Summary
MOLA Northampton was commissioned by Bellway Homes to carry out archaeological trial trenching on land to the east of Rothwell Road, Desborough, Northamptonshire. The proposed development area consisted of 13.3ha of and that was divided into seven fields. The evaluation trenches in Fields 1-5 revealed limited archaeological remains, comprising elements of a medieval field system, furrows, post-medieval ditches, with two much broader features, a possibly trackway and a palaeochannel. Land drains, recent pipe trenches and large areas of modern disturbance were also identified. The trenches in Field 6 to the west produced little remains and Field 7 in the northern area was not investigated, as it was not going affected by any intrusive development.
