Abstract/Summary
A magnetometer survey of approximately 5ha of land on the north-western limits of the Courteenhall Estate has identified what appears to be a former kiln, used perhaps for brick, tile or pottery making. Supporting the interpretation is the fact such a feature was found in excavations only 350m to the west of the site. Other magnetic responses of interest may be associated with former watermills, a windmill and quarry which are recorded on the periphery of the survey area. However, landscaping for the estate parkland may have resulted in many of the anomalies.
