Abstract/Summary

Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd was commissioned to undertake a program of archaeological trial pit evaluation in advance of residential development at Land to the north of Court Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire. (NGR: SP 75103 60281) This was completed between 26th October – 1st November 2022. In total eight trial pits were excavated across the site that encountered mostly modern deposits related to the car showroom building and forecourt. One trial pit encountered the remains of a post medieval wall. Two trial pits encountered features comprising a linear beam slot and a small circular pit. Six trial pits also encountered a Pleistocene glaciolacustrine deposit or possibly a Holocene alluvium.
