Abstract/Summary

This report details the results of an archaeological evaluation carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) at Toft Hill, 19 Rugby Road, Barby, Northamptonsire. The work was undertaken between 01/07/25 – 04/07/25 on behalf of client in advance of four dwellings and vehicular access improvements. A total of five evaluation trenches, each measuring approximately 20m in length, were excavated across the site within the proposed building footprints. The archaeological investigation revealed the presence of a series of post‐medieval features including a ditch and a structural feature interpreted as either a wall or drain as well as building foundations. These are consistent with the remains of a farm known to have occupied the site as corroborated by early Ordnance Survey mapping. The physical archive will be deposited with Northamptonshire Archaeological resource Centre under the accession number ENN111678. The digital archive will be deposited with the Archaeological Data Service (ADS).
